Yes …Couple Therapy and Relationship Education does help!
If you are here on this page, my hope is that you are seeking support and guidance to address whatever is not working in your relationship. In my work with couples, I often see these areas of distress show up in these four main areas:
- Communication difficulties
- Increased conflict or difficulty navigating conflict
- Emotional and physical distance – and often challenges around sexual intimacy
- Difficulties with ‘repair’ – reconnecting when one or both partners ‘mess up’
Research shows that couples who engage in therapy together can indeed restore their relationships to more satisfying and enjoyable partnerships, learn skills to improve their communication, resolve conflict more effectively, and find deeper and more passionate connections with one another.
I draw upon the wisdom, skills training and solid research science of the Gottman Method (Level II trained), as well as my knowledge and experience from Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), CBT, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy – especially for my clients where trauma is part of their relationship history for one or both of the partners. In addition, my 25+ years of clinical practice and 29 years of marriage lend insight, commitment and experience to my work.
I believe wholeheartedly that when couples put time and energy into their relationship to nourish and nurture their connection, miracles can happen!
In addition to my private practice offering therapy to couples, my colleague, Ashley Taggart, MFT, and I have created a program, Relationships-In-Action, to provide you with effective, actionable strategies in order to enhance your relationship and address the areas that need attention.
